By creating an account or using Placed, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

We collect the following categories of information:
Account Information
- Full name and email address (provided at signup)
- Password (stored as a secure hash — we never store plain-text passwords)
Usage Data
- Career roadmaps, skill gap analyses, and journal entries you create
- Resume content you upload for analysis
- Conversations with the AI career coach
- Job application tracker entries
Technical Data
- Anonymised page-view analytics via Plausible Analytics — cookieless, GDPR-compliant, no personal identifiers collected
- Browser type and device type (aggregated, not tied to your account)
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To provide AI-powered career coaching, skill gap analysis, and roadmap generation
- To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset) via Resend
- To send you a personalised welcome email on signup
- To improve and debug our platform using anonymised usage data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following trusted third-party services to operate Placed:

5. Cookies
We use cookies minimally and only for essential functionality:
- Authentication cookies — set by Supabase to keep you logged in. These are strictly necessary and cannot be disabled without preventing login.
- Theme preference — a local preference stored in your browser to remember your light/dark mode choice.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Plausible Analytics is cookieless by design.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at privacy@placeds.in, after which your data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.
AI conversation data (prompts you send to Groq) is processed in real-time and not stored by Groq beyond their standard retention policy.
7. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing (via Supabase Auth), and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data.
8. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and data
- Portability — request your data in a portable format
- Objection — object to processing of your data

9. Children's Privacy
Placed is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such data, we will delete it promptly.

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011.
